Floor it in a Ferrari with the Waldorf Astoria Driving Experience at La Quinta

If poking along at 20 mph on Interstate 5 is a downer, put a little Autobahn in your life this fall in the Mojave Desert with the Waldorf Astoria Driving Experience. The tour, based at La Quinta Resort & Club, allows guests to slip into the driver’s seat of three super cars -- a Ferrari 458 Italia Spider, a McLaren MP4-12C and a Porsche GT3 -- under the guidance of Didier Theys, professional race-car driver and Belgian champion. Participants receive instructions and follow a course that takes them through dunes, straightaways and mountain switchbacks.
Dates: Oct. 16-18, 23-25, Nov. 13-15, Dec. 4-6.
Price: Rates start at $1,218 per night for two, including accommodations, use of resort facilities and the driving experience for two. Taxes and resort fees are not included.
