50 rooms get a beachy makeover at Hotel Palomar San Diego
Just in time for summer: Fifty new surfer-themed rooms have opened at Hotel Palomar San Diego.
Surfboard-style headboards, tie-dyed pillows, wall sconces that look like motorcycle tail lights and other touches comprise what’s called the Skyline Collection at the hotel that’s part of the Kimpton family.
Thirty rooms, 12 studios, six suites and two two-story penthouses at the 211-room hotel have been decorated by Theresa Fatino Design. They’re on floors 16 through 20.
And room views of San Diego Bay and Coronado Island are part of the coastal cool decor too.
The hotel is rolling out new activities to go along with the new look.
DJs and a live band will provide entertainment at pool-side brunches Saturdays and Sundays in the hotel’s rooftop lounge SummerSalt.
Skyline rooms start at $259 a night and penthouses start at $1,500 a night.
You can add a tandem skydive, flight of beer from local microbreweries and a 20% discount at the hotel spa with a package starting at $399 a night. (The offer is good through Dec. 30; use the code “PFLY” when booking online.)
