USC in the NFL: Clay Matthews, Nick Perry help Green Bay Packers

Green Bay linebackers Clay Matthews and Nick Perry disrupted quarterback Tony Romo in a 26-21 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at Lambeau Field.

Perry made four tackles, including 11/2 sacks.

Matthews made four tackles.

The former Trojans will reunite with Pete Carroll when the Packers play the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC championship game on Sunday at CenturyLink Field.

Carroll’s defending Super Bowl-champion Seahawks defeated the Carolina Panthers, 31-17, on Saturday at CenturyLink Field.

“I thought it was an extraordinary night,†Carroll told reporters.

Carroll, who led USC to back-to-back national championships, now prepares to play in the NFC championship game for the second consecutive season.

Former Trojans linebacker Malcolm Smith made a tackle.

Holmes takes over

Khaled Holmes took over as the starting center for the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16, just in time for a playoff run.

The Colts defeated the Denver Broncos, 24-13, on Sunday at Sports Authority Field to advance to the AFC championship game.

“What a game! What a win! So thankful to be a part of this TEAM #ColtsStrong,†Holmes wrote on Twitter.

The Colts play the New England Patriots on Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
