High school: Jefferson played on the defensive line and at tight end at Liberty High. He made 35 tackles, including 6 1/2 sacks, during the 2014 season. He also caught 12 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns.
USC position group breakdown: Jefferson is among five freshmen defensive linemen.
USC listed Jefferson as a reserve at tackle, along with freshman Rasheem Green on the fall depth chart.
Fifth-year senior Delvon Simmons will start for a second season at tackle.
Third-year sophomore Kenny Bigelow, listed as Simmons’ backup, started working his way back into drills last spring after he was sidelined during the 2014 season because of a knee injury. Bigelow redshirted his freshman season.
Season prediction for Jefferson: Either Jefferson or Green will rotate on the line, and the other could redshirt.
