USC’s Adoree’ Jackson amassed 193 all-purpose yards and scored a touchdown on a long pass reception in the Trojans’ 41-31 defeat by No. 14 Notre Dame on Saturday night at Notre Dame Stadium.

But Jackson, who started at cornerback and carried a heavy load on offense, said he blamed himself for the defeat.

Jackson gave up a touchdown pass to Notre Dame receiver Will Fuller on Notre Dame’s first play, which tied the score.

“That was all my fault,†Jackson said. “That gave them momentum.â€

Jackson turned his only reception into an 83-yard touchdown, carried the ball two times for nine yards and four kickoffs for 101 yards.

He also made three tackles and forced a second-quarter fumble that turned the momentum in USC’s favor.

USC receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster caught six passes for 133 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown.

Smith-Schuster said he suffered a thigh bruise early in the game, which forced him to the sideline in the fourth quarter, but he said he would be ready for Saturday’s game against Utah.

Greene delivers

USC wide receiver Jalen Greene, a converted quarterback, connected with receiver Smith-Schuster on a 75-yard touchdown pass play in the second quarter.

Greene also caught two passes for 22 yards.

Greene, a left-hander who played at Gardena Serra High, lined up on the right side, went in motion behind quarterback Cody Kessler and then caught a swing pass before delivering the pass to Smith-Schuster, who outran defenders to the end zone.

Greene enrolled at USC in the spring of 2014 and mostly worked as the scout team quarterback last season.

He switched to receiver going into training camp.

Greene completed an 18-yard pass to Dominic Davis in the opener against Arkansas State.

Rogers returns

USC receiver Darreus Rogers, who sat out nearly all of the last two games because of a hamstring injury, returned against Notre Dame.

Rogers caught four passes for 34 yards, including a 15-yard reception in the first quarter that helped set up Alex Wood’s 42-yard field goal.

Freshman Deontay Burnett caught a third-quarter pass and also delivered a key block on a 65-yard run by Ronald Jones that set up a touchdown for a 31-24 lead.

He also had a 28-yard reception in the fourth quarter.

Familiar face

Notre Dame receiver Amir Carlisle, who played tailback for USC in 2011, returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in the first quarter.

“That was crazy. That was my first time on the punt return team and they called a block. I saw my man E.Q. [Equanimeous St. Brown] get in there and, thank God for the opportunity for the ball to just bounce into my hands.â€

Carlisle converted to wide receiver last season.

He didn’t have any receptions Saturday.

Lobendahn starts

Sophomore Toa Lobendahn started at center for the Trojans in place of injured Max Tuerk.

Tuerk suffered a torn knee ligament against Washington and is out for the season.

Lobendahn moved from guard to center against Washington.

During his short career, Lobendahn has started at both guard spots and left tackle.
