UCLA football: Bruins ranked seventh in USA Today/Coaches’ Poll
UCLA will open the season as the seventh-ranked team, according to the USA Today/Coaches Poll.
Florida State was ranked No. 1.
The Bruins have not carried this high of a ranking into a season since 1998, when they were ranked sixth in the Associated Press Poll. The Bruins finished 10-2 that season, won the Pac-10 championship --their last conference title -- and barely missed reaching the Bowl Championship Series title game that season.
USC was ranked 15thin the 2014 preseason poll.
The Pac-12 has six teams in the poll -- Oregon was fourth, Stanford 11th, Arizona State 18th and Washington 25th. The Southeastern Conference was the only other conference with six teams. Notre Dame, which was ranked 17th, was the only team in the poll not from the five major conferences: Pac-12, SEC, Atlantic Coast, Big-10, Big 12.
