Jonah Bolden recovering after knee surgery
UCLA basketball player Jonah Bolden underwent surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee on Tuesday morning.
A team spokesman called the tear slight and said Bolden, a sophomore, is expected to make a full recovery.
The timetable for his return is approximately six to eight weeks, or by mid-July, well before the start of the basketball season.
Bolden is expected to be a key contributor for the Bruins next season, especially with the departure of forward Kevon Looney to the NBA draft. Bolden, a four-star recruit who grew up in Australia, is listed as a 6-foot-10 combo guard/forward, though his size makes him a fit to assume Looney’s role as a forward.
Bolden sat all of last season after being ruled a partial-qualifier by the NCAA but was allowed to practice with the team in January.
After the season, he participated in workouts with the team in Pauley Pavilion.
