U.S. soccer schedule likely to include friendly at StubHub Center
The U.S. men’s soccer team will play at least seven games in the first half of 2015 in preparation for next summer’s Gold Cup tournament, including a Feb. 8 friendly with Panama that will probably be played at StubHub Center.
Among the others are a home game with Mexico on April 15 at a location still to be determined. One possible site for that one is the Alamodome in San Antonio, according to Goal USA. That exhibition, along with the year-opening game with Chile (Jan. 28) and the home date with Panama, will be played outside a FIFA-sanctioned competition window, meaning clubs are not obliged to release players to take part.
The other four matches will all be played in Europe on FIFA competition dates. Those games are March 25 in Denmark, March 31 in Switzerland, June 5 at the Netherlands and June 10 in Germany against the reigning World Cup champions.
Three other games are being discussed for early summer with a post-Gold Cup friendly likely for the FIFA window in September. The Gold Cup is set to be played July 7-26.
