An anomaly, as defined by Google, is “something that deviates from what is standard, normal or expected.â€

The Arizona hotel where the New England Patriots have been staying in the days leading up to Super Bowl XLIX won’t be able to use that word to explain the fire alarm that went off in the early morning hours this time around.

When it happened early Tuesday morning, it was described by the hotel as “an anomaly.†But now it’s happened for the second time in three days, sometime before 5 a.m. Thursday.

Sheraton Wild Horse Pass public relations director Stephanie Sanstead confirmed both instances on Thursday.

“We apologize to our guests,†she said. “We are taking this matter very seriously. We are reviewing everything.â€

Suddenly a peaceful night’s sleep for the AFC champs seems like an anomaly.

New England fans will surely have their own word for the occurrences -- “conspiracy,†perhaps?
