Marshawn Lynch is appealing a $75,000 fine we never heard about, report says
Marshawn Lynch was fined $75,000 for not speaking to reporters after the Seattle Seahawks’ victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC championship game, according to Pro Football Talk.
The report goes on to say that Lynch filed an appeal months ago and only Tuesday learned that the hearing will be on Thursday.
The star running back also was fined $20,000 by the league for grabbing his crotch while scoring a touchdown during the same game. We already knew about that one.
But the much bigger fine was news to pretty much everyone when word of it came out on Tuesday. Why? Because the NFL never reported it.
It was speculated that Lynch could be penalized in such a way, especially since similar behavior had cost him $100,000 ($50,000 each for two violations) earlier in the season.
But, for some reason, we were never informed when it all went down. In other words, the NFL did not talk to the media about fining a guy for not talking to the media.
It just seems kind of odd -- that and the fact that Lynch only got two days’ notice for a hearing about something that happened some seven months ago.
Don’t you just love the way the NFL operates?
