Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon and other IndyCar drivers are scheduled Tuesday to hold a daylong test session in Fontana that’s free to the public.

The drivers are to run practice laps from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Auto Club Speedway, where the Izod IndyCar Series’ season finale, the MAVTV 500, is scheduled Oct. 19 under the lights.

The race will decide the series championship. Castroneves, a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner and former “Dancing with the Stars†champ in search of his first title, holds a 49-point lead over Dixon with three races left in the season. Dixon is a two-time series champion.

Spectators will be allowed to watch the test session from the Terrace Suite rooftops above pit road in the infield of the two-mile oval speedway, where the drivers reach speeds topping 200 mph.
