Ducks activate goalie Jason LaBarbera after five-game absence

The Ducks continued their roster shuffling Thursday, activating goalie Jason LaBarbera after a five-game absence caused by a broken hand bone suffered in a relief performance Nov. 29 in San Jose.
Veteran LaBarbera has earned two wins this season, Nov. 2 at Colorado and in relief Nov. 12 against the Kings in a shootout.
Starting goalie Frederik Andersen, who stopped 21 of 22 shots in Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers, has played in 16 consecutive games.
His recent backup, while LaBarbera was out, was Igor Bobkov, who struggled in minor-league Norfolk and was sent to minor-league Utah on Thursday.
The Ducks, in a likely precursor to defenseman Ben Lovejoy’s return from a fractured finger during a five-game road trip to Canada that begins in Edmonton on Friday, demoted rookie defenseman Josh Manson to Norfolk.
Also, forward Dany Heatley, who is skating impressively after undergoing a surgical procedure last month on his preseason groin injury, was moved to Norfolk for an undetermined conditioning assignment.
