Detroit’s singing hot dog vendor loses his job [Video]
The singing hot dog vendor at Comerica Park in Detroit has lost his job. That’d be Charley Marcuse, also known as “The Singing Hot Dog Man.â€
This would seem to be a bad thing, but you can be the judge via the video above. There reportedly have been complaints he is too loud.
Marcuse, who also works at a men’s store in Birmingham, Mich., sells Charley’s Ballpark Mustard as well.
But as of Friday, the food contractor Sportservice has cut ties with Marcuse, who took to Twitter to let fans know.
After 15 years the @Tigers finally got what they’ve aways wanted: I was fired by @delawarenorth #Sportservice this morning. #LongLiveMustard— Singing Hot Dog Man (@SinginHotDogMan) September 6, 2013
Marcuse has lost his job before at the ballpark, but after an uproar by fans, and even an appearance on “Good Morning America,†he returned to the stadium. He released the following statement:
“Since 1999, the final season played at Tiger Stadium, I have been selling hot dogs at Detroit Tigers games. What started as a part-time summer job quickly turned into a passion. For 15 years I have tried to provide a unique, engaging, and fun experience for everyone. The vast majority of feedback and interactions have always been positive. Fans constantly tell me that I have added to their enjoyment of the ballgame. The Detroit Tigers and Sportservice, a Delaware North Company, see it differently. After so many years I am very sorry to see this day come.
“I am deeply thankful to the fans for their loyalty and support. It has been an amazing experience serving you for the past 15 years. All of you are the reason I keep coming back. I hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.â€
