Chad Johnson shows a homeless man named Porkchop a good time

A homeless man approached Chad Johnson in the South Beach area of Florida on Saturday and asked the former NFL star to buy him a beer.

He picked the right guy to ask.

Johnson bought the man -- first name Robert, last name unknown, goes by the nickname Porkchop -- several beers and hung around to enjoy them with him. The ex-wide receiver also bought Porkchop cigarettes and some new clothes, gave him a watch and took him out for a night on the town that has more or less extended into two days and counting now.

And Johnson has been documenting it all in great detail for his nearly 4.5 million Twitter followers, some of whom have spotted and befriended Porkchop themselves.

It may have started out as just a good time, but the two seem to have formed a real bond. As Johnson points out in one tweet, they’re “both unemployed.†The six-time Pro Bowl selection hasn’t played since a lackluster 2011 season in New England.

Some of his Porkchop-related posts are really kind of touching:

And, as this tweet shows, Johnson hopes to do more than just show his new friend a good time.

I’m using all the resources available to help the best way i can RT @hunter_shields: @ochocinco do you have a long term plan for Porkchop? — Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) April 29, 2013
