Pelicans’ Anthony Davis reportedly agrees to $145-million contract extension
After helping lead the New Orleans Pelicans to the postseason this year, 22-year-old star Anthony Davis was rewarded with a $145-million, five-year contract extension Tuesday, reports say.
It appears New Orleans Pelicans All-Star forward Anthony Davis is going to be with the team for six more years.
Davis tweeted a picture of himself along with team brass Tuesday night after reaching a deal.
And then he shared another one with family celebrating.
Davis agreed to the maximum five-year extension valued at about $145 million, according to Yahoo Sports NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
The extension will begin next season.
The 22-year-old star has become a household name thanks to his personality and performance, averaging 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks last season. Davis helped propel the Pelicans to the playoffs. They were swept in the first round by the Golden State Warriors, who went on to win the championship.
The 6-foot, 10-inch Davis was taken at No. 1 overall by New Orleans in the 2012 NBA Draft. He played one season at the University of Kentucky. That year, the Wildcats beat the Kansas Jayhawks, 67-59, for the national championship.
