Jimmy Walker, Hideki Matsuyama tied for PGA lead at Kapalua

Jimmy Walker and Hideki Matsuyama are tied for the lead going into the final round of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii.

Matsuyama shot a seven-under 66 on Sunday to match the best score of the week. He made three consecutive birdies on the front nine and back nine, and closed with a delicate pitch down a slope to within two feet of the cup for a birdie on the par-five 18th.

Walker began to pull away with five birdies in 10 holes. But he didn’t make another birdie until a four-foot putt on the last hole for a 67. Walker and Matsuyama are tied at 17-under 202.

Bae Sang-Moon (69) and Patrick Reed (68) were two shots behind.

Defending champion Zach Johnson, among four players tied for the second-round lead, stumbled to a 73 and was six shots behind.

England’s Andy Sullivan won the South African Open for his first European Tour title, beating South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel with a 12-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff.

Sullivan closed a five-under 67 to match Schwartzel at 11-under 277 at Glendower. Schwartzel, five strokes ahead entering the round, finished with a 74. He had two bogeys and a double bogey in his last five holes.
