Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi likely is out through the end of the regular season, another injury in a series of setbacks as New York tries to win the AL East.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Tuesday that elbow inflammation will keep Eovaldi from throwing for two weeks, then the right-hander will need a two-week throwing program.

Eovaldi’s injury was diagnosed Monday. He said he still hopes to pitch again this year and would “absolutely†be willing to work out the bullpen if and when he returns.

Eovaldi is 14-3 with a 4.20 ERA. Minus him, manager Joe Girardi said Adam Warren and Bryan Mitchell were candidates to start down the stretch.

Outfielder Brett Gardner was out of the lineup Tuesday night against Baltimore because of a jammed shoulder. He didn’t start on Monday as the Yankees closed within a half-game of division-leading Toronto.

First baseman Mark Teixeira isn’t recovering quickly, Girardi said, and there’s no telling when he will play again. Teixeira has a team-leading 31 home runs despite being on the disabled list since Aug. 27 because of a bone bruise in his right shin.

“The progress we expected to see, we’re not seeing,†Girardi said.
