That shot came from before practice Tuesday, four days after the Patriots’ star quarterback cut his thumb while using a pair of scissors to clean his cleats before the game.

Needless to say, Brady will be OK. He told reporters that the thumb feels “good” and that he’s “absolutely” ready to make his preseason debut Friday at Carolina.

But he does feel a little silly about the whole incident.

“I was ready to go, had everything on, and I was just trying to get something out of my shoe,” Brady said. “The scissors slipped. Just a silly accident.”

Afterward, Brady said he “let out a pretty loud word I wouldn’t repeat in front of my kids” and then tried to convince Coach Bill Belichick to let him play. Instead, Brady ended a second exhibition game off, leaving him just two more preseason games to play before he has to serve his four-game Deflategate suspension.

“It’s a crappy way to not be out there because it’s a silly mistake,” he added. “I’m glad it wasn’t in the regular season. I learned from it and hopefully won’t be operating any more scissors for a while.”
