Tyler Chatwood goes on Rockies’ DL

Colorado Rockies right-hander Tyler Chatwood was put on the 15-day disabled list Sunday because of back strain.
“I don’t think it will be much longer than that,” Manager Walt Weiss said. “It’s hard to tell. We’re thinking at this point that the 15 days will be sufficient.”
Chatwood (8-4) left Saturday’s start at Miami after 12/3 innings. He has made 14 starts this season after returning from his second elbow ligament-replacement surgery.
Braves’ Smith suffers a broken thumb
Atlanta Braves rookie outfielder Mallex Smith will be sidelined indefinitely because of a broken left thumb suffered when he was hit by a pitch from New York Mets reliever Antonio Bastardo.
Smith is hitting .237 with 14 stolen bases, and .357 with runners in scoring position.
Marlins recall Clemens
Right-hander Paul Clemens was recalled from triple A to join the Miami Marlins’ rotation as a replacement for left-hander Justin Nicolino, who was optioned to the minors.
Clemens will pitch in the majors for the first time since 2014 when he faces Colorado on Monday.
Clemens is 4-8 with a 5.51 ERA in 48 major league games, most recently with Houston in 2014.
