Steve Blake meets with fan to make amends
After getting fined $25,000 by the NBA for inappropriate language directed toward a fan, Steve Blake met with the fan and his father, longtime court-side ticket-holder Steve Jackson, at the team’s practice facility on Tuesday.
“We got a chance to speak and talk about the situation,†said Blake. “I just let him know that I was sorry for the way I acted. I didn’t handle myself the way I wanted to. We were able to talk and hopefully build a relationship off of that.â€
Video of the incident can be seen here.
Blake noted that he got caught up in the moment, frustrated the Lakers were losing their third-straight game to start the season.
“It was an emotional game for me,†he said. “It was a spur-of-the-moment bad decision.â€
Blake said he wasn’t happy with the fine but said he understood why the NBA levied it.
“That’s not what I want to be known for,†he said. “They are great people and they didn’t deserve that type of interaction.â€
