Lakers’ Julius Randle has surgery, screw replaced in right foot
Lakers rookie Julius Randle underwent surgery Tuesday to replace a screw in the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
The procedure was performed at Cedars-Sinai Orthopaedic Center by Dr. David Thordarson.
Randle was previously knocked out for the season after breaking his right leg on opening night in a loss against the Houston Rockets.
The Lakers selected the Kentucky power forward with the seventh pick in the 2014 NBA draft.
Reports that he might eventually need follow-up foot surgery to repair a high school injury may have contributed to Randle’s availability at the seventh spot.
The Lakers expect Randle to fully recover from both injuries.
