Where is Steve Nash?

“I don’t know,†said Lakers President and Governor Jeanie Buss on ESPNLA 710 radio on Tuesday.

The answer, according to the Twitter feed and website for Argentinian soccer team Boca Juniors on Thursday, is Buenos Aires.

Along with the text, “Steve Nash, de la NBA a la Bombonera,†which translates to “Steve Nash, from the NBA to the Bombonera,†the “BocaJrsOficial†feed also posted photos of Nash at the team’s stadium.

“Gracias @bocajrsoficial. La bombanera! Un sueño!†wrote Nash on Instagram Thursday night.

Nash is in the third year of his contract with the Lakers, making $9.7 million for the season. Before opening night, Nash was declared out with chronic back issues that troubled him throughout almost the entirety of his run with the Lakers.

Should the 40-year-old point guard be with the team, even if he’s unable to play?

“He has to do what’s best for him,†answered Buss on the radio Tuesday. “I think that when Steve Nash came to the Lakers, we gave him everything he needed.

“We made sure he was one of the top 15 paid guys at his position. They hired a coach [Mike D’Antoni] especially for his game. I think that we did everything we could to put him in the best possible position to be successful. His body didn’t cooperate, and he’s got to make decisions that are best for him right now.â€

Nash met with the Lakers on Christmas Eve, prior to their trip to Chicago to play the Bulls on the holiday.

Coach Byron Scott and Nash finally spoke, after a lengthy period of phone tag.

“I still invited him to come around here for practice, to join and just be part of the team, part of the coaching staff,†said Scott in late December. “When he feels he’ll be able to do that, in whatever time that might be, he’ll be welcome with open arms.â€
