AT THE PLATE: Howie Kendrick turned one of Aroldis Chapman’s fastballs around, lining it over the wall in left field in the fourth inning for his second homer of the spring. Josh Hamilton had two singles and is batting .500 (five for 10) this spring. The Angels, who improved to 2-8-2, won with a five-run seventh that was highlighted by Peter Bourjos’ triple and Luis Rodriguez’s two-run single.
ON THE MOUND: Tommy Hanson, making his first start in an Angels uniform after last winter’s trade from Atlanta, gave up one run and three hits, including Jay Bruce’s solo home run, in two innings. Bruce also hit a solo homer in the fourth off left-hander Scott Downs, who made his spring debut.
EXTRA BASES: Chris Iannetta doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth. ... J.B. Shuck hit a two-run single in the seventh. ... Reliever Ryan Madson (sore elbow) has extended his long-toss program to 90 feet and is scheduled to throw off a mound for the first time in more than a month on Monday.
