Jacksonville Jaguars unveil new uniforms with two-tone helmets

The Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t been much to look at on the football field of late, but, thanks to a Nike uniform makeover, at least they’ll stand out.

The Jaguars’ new duds feature a sharp, angular font on jet-black jerseys with teal accents and gold trim, with a new trait unlike any other NFL team: a two-tone helmet that fades from black to gold.

Jacksonville also has white- and teal-based versions of the uniform with alternating colors.

In a nod to the city of Jacksonville’s multiple military bases, the Jaguars’ new uniforms also have a military-style patch over the heart.

“It’s all a good look,†said Jacksonville second-year receiver Justin Blackmon during an interview on the Jaguars’ official website.

The new uniforms are one of many changes owner Shad Khan has made since purchasing the Jaguars in January 2012.

Coach Mike Mularkey was fired after just one season and a record of 2-14, and the Jaguars signed on to begin an international series in which Jacksonville will play one game per season for the next four years in London.

“There’s a lot of stuff going on, and you just really sense that Mr. Khan is trying to get things in the right direction so we can go out and do what we do best,†Blackmon said. “He’s trying to take out all that extra stuff and just try to get wins.â€
