Zack Hample is a man you can trust. He has written a book about how to catch a home run at a major league ballpark and on Thursday night he proved it by catching two in one game.

That’s right. He caught two home runs when the New York Yankees played host to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Hample, a 35-year-old from New York, claims to have now hauled in 29 home runs hit by major leaguers, and Thursday was the second time he’s caught two in the same game.

You don’t believe him? Then don’t read his book, “How to Snag Major League Baseballs.†Supposedly everything you need to learn is in there.

On Thursday night he was even part of history when Diamondbacks rookie Didi Gregorious homered in the third inning to right field on the first pitch he saw in the majors. Hample also caught Mike Trout’s first home run in the big leagues in 2011.

“It’s a little bit of luck, obviously,†Hample said. “I move all over the place constantly. People don’t notice the seven games I’ve been to this year and didn’t catch a home run.â€

Hample also caught the tying home run Thursday that the Yankees’ Francisco Cervelli hit over the left-field wall in the ninth inning.

The Diamondbacks won the game, 6-2, with four runs in the 12th inning.
