Lindsey Vonn remains in hospital with ‘severe intestinal pain’
Lindsey Vonn remained in a Colorado hospital Tuesday, “awaiting results from diagnostic testing for severe intestinal pain,†her spokesman, Lewis Kay, wrote in an email.
The four-time World Cup champion skier has been to the hospital in Vail for the issue more than once during the last two weeks, her ski technician, Heinz Haemmerle, told the Associated Press in a telephone interview.
“She told me she feels bad and has pain all over her body and that her bones are hurting,†Haemmerle said. “She’s been [to the hospital] two or three times. This is the first time she’s stayed overnight.â€
Haemmerle has been on hand in Colorado to help Vonn prepare for a pair of races in Aspen later this month. He said she hasn’t trained since going out in the second run of the season-opening giant slalom Oct. 27 in Soelden, Austria, and doesn’t know when she will start again.â€
“The coaches also don’t know,†he said. “First they told me we would train again Monday, then Wednesday, now the end of the week.â€
Head racing director Rainer Salzgeber and Haemmerle confirmed that Vonn does not have any broken bones or skiing injuries.
“There’s been no news, so we’re kind of worried,†Salzgeber said from Austria. “It’s not good.â€
