Are you hard core enough to actually follow the MLB draft? [Poll]
For most people, the MLB draft isn’t really a must-see event the way the NFL and NBA drafts have become. Unlike the top picks in those leagues, none of the players in baseball’s amateur draft usually are household names.
None of them are expected to make an immediate impact either. Many of them end up disappearing into the farm system, sometimes never to be heard from again or at least for a long time.
But though it may lack for excitement, the draft is obviously important to the teams. And many fans do like to follow it, at least to keep up with the moves their favorite teams have been making (I ought to know -- I answer the phones here).
The draft will be shown live on the MLB Network and MLB.com starting at 4 p.m. PDT on Monday.
Dodgers fans will have more to keep up with than Angels fans on Monday. In fact, Angels fans will have nothing to do draft-wise on Monday since their team won’t pick until Tuesday (114th overall) after losing their first- and second-round picks for signing free agents Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson.
By that time, the Dodgers will have picked four times (18th, 51st, 82nd and 118th).
Do you plan on following the draft? If so, how? Vote in the poll, then leave a comment explaining why you voted the way you did.
