Grant Hill, soon to be wearing a Clippers uniform, is an acquisition that will further change the culture of an up-and-coming team that was once thought to be cursed.
The Clippers players are excited to be teammates with the seven-time All-Star but, for forward Trey Thompkins, there’s one small complication.
Hill will take over Thompkin’s number next season.
Thompkins tweeted at Hill on Friday, hoping to get a little sumptin sumptin in return: “@realgranthill33 It’s an honor to give my number to a vet like you! But um.. I was wonderin if we could come up w some kind of exchange lol.”
Hill has yet to respond.
That’s not the only reaction from a colleague that Hill has recently received.
On Tuesday, Steve Nash, who recently signed with the Lakers, posted a photo to his Twitter account of himself grimacing. Along with the photo, he tweeted: “@realgranthill33 is signing with the Clippers....”
Hill will be introduced Friday as the newest member of the Clippers.
He will sign a two-year, $4-million deal after getting a veteran-minimum offer from the Suns worth $1.35 million.
Hill, 39, spent the past five seasons with the Suns. Last year, he averaged 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
