Lamar Odom happy to be a Clipper again

In 1999, Lamar Odom was drafted by the Clippers, a 19-year-old player out of Rhode Island by way of Queens, N.Y.

In 2012, Odom has found his way back to the Clippers, returning after he was acquired from the Dallas Mavericks on Friday in a four-team trade that sent Mo Williams to the Utah Jazz.

“It feels great to be back in L.A.,” Odom said Monday at his news conference at the Clippers’ facility in Playa Vista. “It feels great to be back in a Clippers uniform. It’s like déjà vu all over again. I feel like I’m 19. Hopefully I can turn back the clock on the court as well.”

Odom had a tough season last year in Dallas, which acquired him from the Lakers.

In 50 games with the Mavericks, during the lockout-shortened season, Odom had his worst career as a 13-year professional.

He averaged career lows in points (6.6), rebounds (4.2), assists (1.7), minutes (20.5), shooting percentage (35.2%) and three-point shooting (25.2%).

“I’m just looking forward to coming out and helping the team win games, do whatever it takes to win basketball games, to erase that last season I had,” Odom said. “I wasn’t myself.”

Odom spent his first four years playing for the Clippers before he played one year for Miami, seven for the Lakers and one for the Mavericks.

“We’re just excited to have him here and back in a Clipper uniform,” Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro said.
