Redskins’ Robert Griffin III expected to play Sunday

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Or, as Coach Mike Shanahan put it: “There is a very, very good chance he is going to play.”

Griffin went through a full practice Friday for the third straight day after missing last week’s win over the Cleveland Browns with a sprained right knee.

Fellow rookie Kirk Cousins filled in, making his first career start in a 38-21 victory.

Michael Vick says he’s ‘not a backup’

Michael Vick, who told Philadelphia Magazine’s Birds 24/7 he wants to be a starter wherever he ends up next season, remains the Philadelphia Eagles’ No. 3 quarterback and is likely to be inactive for Sunday’s game,

“I’m not a backup. Just being honest, just being candid. I’m a full-fledged starter,” said Vick in a one-on-one conversation with Birds 24/7. “That’s what I’ve got in me, that’s what I provide, that’s what I offer. Whatever happens, wherever I end up, they’re going to get 110%. You’re going to get the same thing out of me that you got the last two, three years, and that’s 110% effort and a guy that’s confident in his abilities to play and win.

“I want to start. Yeah, I’m a starter. I’ll feel that way until I start to feel like I’m becoming a problem on the team.”

Packers veteran center won’t start

Green Bay Coach Mike McCarthy has apparently decided to take Jeff Saturday, a 14-year veteran player in his first season with the Packers, out of the starting lineup at center and replace him with Evan Dietrich-Smith with two games left in the regular season.

Although Saturday has been coping with neck and shoulder injuries and didn’t get on the practice field this week until the team held a short workout Friday, McCarthy indicated the late-season change isn’t due to medical reasons. Saturday is probable for the game. The Packers won’t have safety Charles Woodson and receiver Jordy Nelson when they play host to Tennessee on Sunday.

Dolphins pick up kicker Nate Kaeding

Former Pro Bowl kicker Nate Kaeding signed with the Miami Dolphins, whose recent wave of injuries sent kicker Dan Carpenter to injured reserve because of a right groin injury. They placed three players on injured reserve this week and could be without both starting wide receivers Sunday against Buffalo. Receiver Davone Bess (back) and linebacker Koa Misi (ankle) were ruled out. Among those listed as questionable were receiver Brian Hartline (back), cornerback Nolan Carroll (knee) and defensive tackle Randy Starks, who has missed practice this week because of a personal matter.

Browns have three more starters out

Cleveland Browns Coach Pat Shurmur said that wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi, tight end Jordan Cameron and defensive back Tashaun Gipson will not travel to Denver to play the Broncos.

Giants’ Ahmad Bradshaw looks ready

Ahmad Bradshaw took part in practice on a limited basis Friday, and New York Giants Coach Tom Coughlin said he was encouraged about having the running back for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Steelers cornerbacks are probable

Cornerbacks Keenan Lewis, Cortez Allen and Curtis Brown all are listed as probable for Pittsburgh’s game against Cincinnati on Sunday.

The Steelers, though, will be without top cornerback Ike Taylor for a third consecutive game because of an ankle injury.

Also, receiver Emmanuel Sanders (rib) is probable, as well as center Maurkice Pouncey, linebacker James Harrison and safety Troy Polamalu.

NFL fines Falcons’ Chris Hope $30,000

In NFL fines announced Friday, the largest went to strong safety Chris Hope of the Atlanta Falcons, who was charged $30,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz. Hope was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the third-quarter play during Atlanta’s 34-0 win on Sunday.

Among the other top penalties: San Francisco 49ers safety Dashon Goldson was docked $21,000 for an illegal hit; Tennessee Titans defensive end Antonio Smith and New York Jets defensive end Quinton Coples were fined $15,750 each for helmet-to-helmet hits; and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Anquan Boldin and cornerback Cary Williams were fined $15,750 each for unnecessary roughness.

Titans wide receiver Kendall Wright missed his third straight practice with a rib injury and wasn’t expected to play Sunday at Green Bay. ... Cornerback Chris Cook will play for the Minnesota Vikings at Houston on Sunday, following a six-game absence because of a broken right arm. … The Jacksonville Jaguars, who won’t have Maurice Jones-Drew and Rashad Jennings at running back Sunday, have claimed running back Jonathan Grimes off waivers from Houston. … Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll said he was not concerned about cornerback Richard Sherman’s preparation for Sunday’s game against San Francisco despite his missing two days of practice while appealing a suspension. …The Buffalo Bills agreed to sign a 10-year lease with the state and county to continue playing at Ralph Wilson Stadium. ... The Denver Broncos are planning to spend $30 million to upgrade Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
