Baseball game will raise funds for paralyzed player
Many of the top high school baseball players in Southern California will play in a charity game Saturday to raise funds for former Santa Ana Mater Dei standout Cory Hahn.
All proceeds from the 1 p.m. game at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton will help support Hahn, who was paralyzed after a collision near second base while playing for Arizona State last season.
Hahn, The Times’ high school player of the year as a senior at Mater Dei in 2010, was injured in his second college game. While trying to steal second base, he sustained a broken spinal cord, which paralyzed him from the chest down.
Hahn’s father, Dale, retired to give Cory full-time care. Tickets are $10, $5 for students with ID. Information: (310) 763-3479 or https://www.YouthBaseballAcademy.com.
