NBA, union will meet Wednesday
MIAMI — NBA Commissioner David Stern said the league and the players’ union had scheduled a “full-blown” negotiating session for Wednesday in hope of working out an agreement before the current labor deal expires June 30.
Stern spoke to the media before Tuesday’s opening of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks.
Bloomberg News reported Stern and NBA Players Assn. Executive Director Billy Hunter will meet Wednesday in Miami. It would be their first meeting in about two weeks.
Stern also said the NBA has approved the sale of the Detroit Pistons to Southern California businessman Tom Gores.
