Update: In the Sparks’ last game, they were two three-pointers shy of their franchise record (15) as they beat the Phoenix Mercury, 98-84. Following a eight-day break, they will play Lauren Jackson, the 2010 most valuable player, and the Storm, which is the defending champion. The Sparks are led by Candace Parker (17.3 points a game), Tina Thompson (15.7) and Kristi Toliver (13.3). Sue Bird is averaging 16.3 points for the Storm. Last season, the Storm swept the Sparks in the first round of the playoffs. The Sparks will play the Storm and the New York Liberty (Tuesday) before playing 12 of their next 14 games on the road.
