Servite’s Cody Fajardo has been steady in wins over Long Beach Poly, Fresno Clovis West and Encino Crespi. “It’s going to take a supreme effort to knock them off, but we’re going to give it a shot,” Edison Coach Dave White said. No. 3 Ventura St. Bonaventure (3-0) at No. 17 Encino Crespi (2-1), 7:30 -- After giving up 253 rushing yards last week during a 38-28 loss to Servite, Crespi’s defense might face an even stiffer challenge trying to stop St. Bonaventure tailback Devon Blackledge. Making the task easier for the Celts could be the return of safety Kevin Williams, who is expected to make his season debut after briefly giving up football to focus on baseball. Crespi quarterback Brian Bennett will need to get off to a better start than he did last week, when the Celts fell behind by 31 points in the first half. The pick: St. Bonaventure.

No. 7 Rancho Cucamonga (3-0) at No. 21 Covina Charter Oak (3-0), 7:30, Prime Ticket -- This clash of defending section champions -- Rancho Cucamonga won the Central Division and Charter Oak the Southeast Division -- also matches head coaches whose families have been friends for more than 30 years. But there’s a score to settle after last year’s game ended in a 14-14 tie that marked the only blemish on each team’s 13-0-1 season. There is no chance of another tie, Charter Oak Coach Lou Farrar said, because overtime will be used if necessary. Rancho Cucamonga hopes an offense that has averaged 35 points in three games makes an extra period moot. The pick: Rancho Cucamonga.

No. 8 Orange Lutheran (1-1) vs. No. 20 Redlands East Valley (2-0) at Orange Coast College, 7:30 -- Lutheran is expected to play without Garret Gilliland after the star running back-linebacker suffered an ankle injury last week during the Lancers’ 46-20 victory over Tustin. That could increase the burden on Lutheran quarterback Bobby Wheatley, who last week passed for 257 yards and two touchdowns against the Tillers. Redlands East Valley is led by quarterback Tyler Shreve and running back A.J. Fernandez. The Wildcats’ defense gave up an average of 11.5 points in victories over Clovis East and San Bernardino San Gorgonio. The pick: Lutheran.
