PAC-12: Oregon tops Washington, 78-74

EUGENE, Ore. — Joseph Young scored 32 points to surpass 2,000 for his four-year career and lead Oregon to a 78-74 victory over Washington on Wednesday night.

Young, who scored 916 points in his first two seasons at Houston, floated in a driving shot with 23.8 seconds left for the winning points. Young, who now has 2,002 points, is the fifth active NCAA Division I player to reach the milestone.

Elgin Cook added 16 points for the Ducks (16-7, 6-4 Pac-12). Nigel Williams-Goss led the Huskies (14-8, 3-7) with 19 points, Andrew Andrews added 14 and Shawn Kemp Jr. had 12. Washington lost despite shooting a season-high 56.6% from the field.

After Young’s basket, Oregon’s Jalil Abdul-Bassit and Jordan Bell forced a Washington turnover with 5.6 seconds left. Abdul-Bassit then sealed the win with two free throws.
