Proposed venues for 2024 Los Angeles Olympics
The bid book for the 2024 Olympics that Los Angeles officials released Tuesday laid out an initial blueprint for 30 or so proposed venues.
A renovated Coliseum will serve as the centerpiece, with other facilities arranged in five clusters across the city. Bidding is a long process and plans almost always change, but here is the current configuration:
Downtown Cluster
• Coliseum: Opening ceremony and closing ceremony, track and field
• Staples Center: Gymnastics, trampoline, basketball
• Microsoft Theater: Fencing
• Convention Center: Badminton, table tennis, wrestling, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, martial arts
• Galen Center: Boxing
• Shrine Auditorium: Weightlifting
• Planned soccer stadium beside Coliseum: Temporarily converted for swimming, diving.
• Dodger Stadium: Baseball, softball (if the sports return to the Olympics)
Hollywood Cluster
• Hollywood Boulevard: Marathon start and finish, walking, road cycling
• Griffith Park: Mountain biking, BMX
• Wilson Golf Course: Golf
Valley Cluster
• Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area: Archery, equestrian, shooting, modern pentathlon, canoe slalom
Coastal Cluster
• Santa Monica Beach: Volleyball, triathlon, open-water swimming
• Pacific Coast Highway: Cycling time trials
• Pauley Pavilion: Basketball prelims
• Drake Stadium: Field hockey
• L.A. Tennis Center: Temporarily converted for water polo
South Bay Cluster
• StubHub Center Soccer Stadium: Rugby
• StubHub Tennis Stadium: Tennis
• Velodrome: Cycling
Other venues
• Forum: Volleyball
• Rose Bowl: Soccer
• L.A. Waterfront: Sailing
• Lake Casitas: Rowing, canoe sprint
