Track & Field: Collins is first in 1,600 prelims

Great Oak sophomore Destiny Collins was first overall in the girls 1,600 meters, running the four laps in 4:51.04 at today’s state prelims. City Section champion Marissa Wiliams was fifth in her heat in the final lap but finished strong to take second place and fourth overall in 4:52.32.

Garrett Corcoran of Villa Park had the fastest time in the boys 1,600 in 4:09.63 and defending champion Blake Haney of Stockdale was second overall in 4:13.64.
