Track: TJ Brock of Chaminade emerging as dual sport athlete

On Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays, junior TJ Brock of Chaminade ran the fastest 100 meters time in the nation, finishing with a wind-aided time of 10.20 seconds.
It was just another indication of how talented Brock truly is. Now he’s known as the fastest in the nation.
“It feels wonderful,” Brock said Sunday. “You’re never prepared to hear those type of things. Someone will mention it and you’ll be a little shocked.”
Brock is a cornerback-receiver in football with scholarship offers from Washington State and San Jose State. Football Coach Ed Croson made it clear he’s going to figure out ways to take advantage of Brock’s speed.
“Special teams, offense, defense _ we’ll throw him the ball, give him the ball, let them kick it to him,” Croson said.
Next up is for Brock to get a legitimate fast time without wind. That probably won’t come until the Mission League finals on May 7 at Occidental College.
What’s clear is that Brock is going to be an athlete to reckon with in track and football. He hopes to get a football scholarship and walk-on for track in college.
