Softball: Mission Viejo’s Alyssa Palomino sets state record for career home runs

The state softball record for career home runs now belongs to Alyssa Palomino of Mission Viejo.
Palomino came into Thursday with 53 career home runs, tying her for the record. Then she hit her 12th and 13th home runs of the season in Mission Viejo’s 13-0 win over El Toro. That gives her 55 and counting.
Palomino, headed to Arizona, has helped lead the Diablos to a 21-0 record and a No. 1 ranking nationally in softball.
