Softball: Mission Viejo, Grand Terrace, Rolling Hills Prep win Southern Section titles

After falling behind early, Mission Viejo unleashed its bats and secured a 9-6 victory over Valley View on Friday night to win the Southern Section Division 2 softball championship in Irvine.
The Diablos took charge in the third inning. An RBI double by Sammy Dees tied the game at 5-5. And Peyton Cody’s RBI single gave Mission Viejo the lead for good. Terra McGowan added a home run.
In Division 3, Grand Terrace defeated Redondo, 5-2, to win its first softball title. Danielle Rico hit a two-run home run.
Rolling Hills Prep won its second consecutive Division 7 championshp with an 8-2 win over Faith Baptist. Juliana Tricarico and Charlee Pond had three hits each for Rolling Hills. Kaitlin Buff picked up the pitching victory.
