Girls’ volleyball: Granada Hills sweeps Palisades to win City Section Division I title
Coach Tom Harp knows how to win the big matches at Granada Hills High, and he guided the Highlanders to their fourth City Section Division I championship in the last five seasons on Saturday night with a 25-21, 26-24, 25-13 victory over Palisades at Roybal.
Granada Hills was seeded No. 2 behind the Dolphins and had lost to Palisades in a five-set match earlier in the season, but Rachel Kayongo contributed 15 kills to lead a balanced attack.
In the Southern Section Division 1AA final, top-seeded Los Alamitos won the championship with a 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23 victory over Santa Ana Mater Dei at Santiago Canyon College.
State volleyball playoff pairings come out on Sunday.
