Girls’ volleyball: Granada Hills knocks off defending City champion Palisades

When Granada Hills and Palisades last played each other in girls’ volleyball, Palisades won its 29th City Section championship with a four-set victory last November.
On Wednesday afternoon, it was a different result. Granada Hills came away with a 25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-14 victory over the Dolphins.
“It was a good, tough match early in the season. There’s still a lot of big games ahead,” Coach Tom Harp said.
Sarah Hagge had 17 kills for Granada Hills.
In another important City Section volleyball opener, Carson held off El Camino Real, 25-20, 25-16, 19-25, 20-25, 15-8.
Trinity Goodman had 20 kills and Kayla Jacks added 18 kills for El Camino Real.
