Football: Vista Murrieta is preparing to be a top team

Vista Murrieta Coach Coley Candaele places little importance on summer passing tournaments. That’s why the Broncos are missing in action during the summer, but when they show up and win a tournament, everyone should pay attention.
That’s what happened on Saturday, when Vista Murrieta won its first and only tournament of the summer at Paloma Valley.
What was learned is that standout quarterback Kyle Williams, one of the best athletes on the team, is also a top receiver. Candaele plans to take advantage of Williams at receiver by using two quarterbacks. Riverside King transfer Karson Greeley had lots of success passing the ball to Williams.
Then there’s the secret weapon Vista Murrieta is about to unleash. That would be sophomore receiver Shakir Khalil. He’s 6 feet 1, 170 pounds, and Candaele can’t wait to see what he’s going to do. Early reports are that he’s a big-time playmaker.
Vista Murrieta returns eight starters from an 11-3 team.
