Football: Transfer season has begun for QBs; Brevin White to Paraclete
If it’s January, it’s time for the quarterbacks to begin switching schools. Yes, there’s only one starting quarterback, and that can lead to a search for a better program.
On Tuesday, St. Bonaventure quarterback Mason Quandt started classes at Sierra Canyon. He’ll be a senior in the fall. He previously attended Chaminade. He passed for 2,413 yards and 17 touchdowns with a 68% completion rate last season for the Seraphs, who are still looking for a coach to replace Adam Guerra.
Quandt’s arrival means that sophomore Johnny Hawkins will have lots of competition to retain the starting job he inherited early in the Sierra Canyon season after an injury to Nikko Harris. Hawkins was 11-0 as a starter for Sierra Canyon.
Former Chaminade QB Brevin White also began classes Tuesday at a new school, Paraclete. Paraclete’s coach, Dean Herrington, coached White two seasons ago at Alemany.
St. Francis earlier landed former Notre Dame quarterback Erik Zimmerman.
With passing leagues beginning and quarterback camps starting, the transfers should be picking up steam.
