Football: Sun Valley Poly celebrates upset win over rival North Hollywood
- Share via
There was a huge surprise in the East Valley League opener between Sun Valley Poly and rival North Hollywood. The Parrots, with one win coming in, knocked off North Hollywood, 41-21.
It was about winning the battle of the trenches. Poly, using a power I formation and two tight ends, kept handing the ball to 140-pound junior running back Kevin Ascencio running to the left side behind tight end Asaiel Larios. He scored three touchdowns.
“We found a weak spot in the defense and attacked,” Coach Jose Campos said. “You pound and pound.”
Poly improved to 2-3.
