Football: St. Francis lands 6-5, 250-pound freshman Kyle Stanback

St. Francis football Coach Jim Bonds is pretty excited. That’s what happens when a 6-foot-5, 250-pound freshman shows up on campus.
And the freshman is no ordinary freshman. His name is Kyle Stanback, younger brother of Maranatha basketball player Trevor Stanback. Except Kyle is the football player in a family of athletes. Brother Chace was the City basketball player of the year at Fairfax. Sister Devin was a standout girls’ basketball player at Chaminade.
“I’m fired up he’s here,” Bonds said.
It remains to be seen whether Stanback can be an impact player as a freshman. He’s going to start out playing on the defensive line and learn to play tight end.
But he’s already a physical specimen.
And Bonds likes his attitude.
“I love the kid,” he said.
