Football: Special game for Sherman Oaks Notre Dame assistant Joe McNab
Sherman Oaks Notre Dame is traveling by bus to Northern California this weeked to play San Mateo Serra in a nonleague football game on Saturday.
It’s a big deal for longtime Notre Dame assistant Joe McNab, who graduated from Serra in 1976 and was a two-way football starter. His father and mother will be at the game and it will be the first opportunity to see their grandson, Ryan, a Notre Dame senior defensive back, play high school football. More McNab family members are coming. It’s almost a reunion.
“It’s pretty cool,†said McNab, Notre Dame’s successful track coach who has been an assistant football coach for Kevin Rooney said 1981. “I can tell stories how great I was.â€
McNab is telling everyone, “Tom Brady went there. Barry Bonds went there. Lynn Swann went there and me.â€
Serra lost to De La Salle last week, 37-21. Notre Dame is 1-1.
