Football: Sierra Canyon can be a title contender
- Share via
Sierra Canyon, known for its state championship basketball team, is going to be a contender to win the Mid Valley Division in football this fall.
Coach Jon Ellinghouse has 15 starters back from an 11-2 team.
Junior quarterback Niko Harris has the chance to become a big-time playmaker on offense.
He’ll have talented receivers in the speedy Eric Markes, Christian Graves and 6-foot-4 Kohl Hollinquest. Running back Bobby Cole will be tough to stop.
The defense will feature 6-4, 260-pound Kanan Ray, a junior tackle, and four-year starter Dexter Stinson, a defensive end.
If Sierra Canyon can get past City Section teams Palisades and Taft in nonleague games, it could be on a path to an unbeaten regular season.
