Football: Peter Plum and Andy Asparagus could be scoring TDs at N.H. games

Let’s hope somebody associated with Contreras’ JV football team brings a roster to Thursday’s game at North Hollywood. Otherwise, get ready for some interesting names carrying the football.
Steve Miller, North Hollywood’s boys’ and girls’ golf coach, is also the school’s public address announcer for football games, and through his 30 years of announcing, when visiting teams failed to provide a roster, he has been known to get creative.
He has made up names based on vegetables, fruits and flowers, such as Peter Plum gaining 10 yards; Andy Asparagus making the tackle; Victor Vinca scoring a touchdown.
It hasn’t happened lately, thanks to teams posting rosters on MaxPreps, but Miller is prepared to entertain fans when no roster is provided.
