Mike Moschetti, the football coach at La Mirada for nine years, announced on Tuesday he has resigned.
La Mirada reached the Division 2 championship game this season. He won a section and state title in 2015 and also a section title in 2009.
His teams won seven Suburban League titles. He tried to challenge his players by scheduling St. John Bosco and Mater Dei for nonleague games.
“I’m going to coach again someday,” he said. “It was the toughest thing I had to do _ to tell the kids.”
The number of coaching openings is closing in on 40.
